Vonzell "Big V" Pittman

Vonzell is returning to the football scene with the home town Carolina Speed of the Southern Indoor Football League! He will play his home games in the Queen City, Charlotte, North Carolina! He is working hard to make this a successful season as he returns to the wide receiver position and is preparing for the beginning of camp in mid February.

Vonzell is currently working out and staying in football shape in Charlotte, NC. He is the best shape of his life and looking for an opportunity to help a football club in the near future.

Vonzell is currently signed on to play for the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League 2.

The Barnstormers have started the season off 6 and 3 atop the Midwest Division as Vonzell takes some time to acclimate himself to the hectic offensive styles of arena football from the sidelines.

Asked what the best thing about living in Iowa was, Vonzell answered:
"The football fans !"

Vonzell's wait is over and he has worked his way into the starting lineup as a linebacker... watch out league here we go!

In his first game as a starting linebacker against the Milwaukee Iron on July 11th Vonzell recorded 4 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles in a 69-37 thumping of Milwaukee at home.

In his second game as a starting linebacker against the Quad City Steamwheels he recorded 5 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles and helped his team pull out a 57-49 win at Quad City to clinch the Midwest Division and a spot in the playoffs!

With a number 2 seed on the line against the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, Big V showed the world that he is a difference maker... in his coming out party in professional football he recorded 8 solo tackles and 6 assisted tackles, a tackle in the backfield for a loss, broke up a pass and topped it off with a 50 yard fumble recovery for a touch down! That is one of the advantages of having an offensive minded player on defense, they have a nose for the end zone and his touch down was the difference in the 63-59 win. Bring on the playoffs baby!

Iowa handles the Manchester Wolves at home rather easily in a 70-53 win over the seven seed. They will now face the Green Bay Blizzard at home next week.

In a heartbreaking loss 46-51 to the Green Bay Blizzard the Barnstormers season comes to an end... short of the championship goal. Vonzell finishes the post season with 8 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles.
